Thai artisan
Ivy & Ponk Smithi
Ponk Smithi is a Thai artisan celebrated for his exploration of Mokume-gane inspired metalwork. This traditional Japanese technique, historically developed for sword fittings, is known for its layered metal patterns resembling wood grain. Rather than reproducing exact tradition, Ponk Smithi embraces its philosophy:
- Unknown patterns – each layer reveals unexpected beauty.
- Controllable process – guided by skill, but open to chance.
- Unpredictable results – every piece is unique, impossible to replicate.
